HEALING ON ALL LEVELS
Since healing is a balancing of energies, and there are said
to be 'four levels of being,' (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual
or intuitive), everything we do on one level directly affects the other
levels. For example, what we think will affect our physical health
just as what we eat can affect our moods and emotions.
Healing is a simple
skill we have for bringing ourselves back into balance. We are all
instinctively born with this ability, but many forgot or never knew how to use it. Energy Healers
understand that changes in the human energy field will result in corresponding changes in the body,
depending on the nature of the energy (ex: good health, illness). The following information is very simple, yet
by integrating the suggestions into your life, you can affect profound healing
in your mind, spirit and body. According to
Wikipedia the encyclopedia, "Nutritionists
are moving towards providing more holistic advice: they recommend increased
exercise, a wider range of foods, using less food processing and cooking,
increased vegetable and fruits, and less animal-based foods."
The following are our
overall recommendations for maintaining optimum
health.
REGULAR MEDITATION
Meditation and it
components (prayer, visualization, affirmation) are the pillarstone of a
healthy life. On a physical level, meditation can lower blood pressure and
provide stress relief and relaxation. On a spiritual level, meditation can
help one contact the Divine Within for the purpose of healing. Meditation
IS medicine for the soul. There are lots of ways to meditate
and lots of books on the subject. Some are listed in our recommended reading section. In general, take at least 5
minutes (and even just 5 minutes can be very powerful) each day to PRAY
(Talk to The Creator) and at least another 5 minutes to MEDITATE (Listen to
the Creator) EACH DAY.
If you are doubtful about the impact of this simple routine, pledge to try
this for 3 weeks. Keep a diary of thoughts, new ideas, new emotions,
insights, etc. that arise during and after the 3 weeks end. Write everything
down, no matter how subtle or insignificant it may seem. Hopefully you will
integrate these 10 minutes (or more) into your daily routine. Write us
and tell us the RESULTS of this experiment. You may want to include
answers to the following questions:
1) Do you feel more at peace than you did before?
2) Do you feel more in control of your life and destiny than before?
3) Are you able to see things differently now?
4) Name one thing about yourself you learned?
Like exercise, which may leave our muscles sore in the beginning, but later
help to strengthen and form strong and healthy bodies, meditation may leave
us a little 'sore' at first. This is actually a good sign it is
working. Like our muscles which release poisonous toxins as we move
them during exercise, meditation will help to rid our minds of toxic
emotions and thoughts. This may leave you a little depressed, angry or
even confused at first, but these are good signs that these negative
energies are being washed away, they are trying to 'pass through' you, to be
purged. The only harm you can do is to stop them from flowing outward.
You must be willing to RELEASE them. Our self-healing course has
exercises and techniques of doing this. more

HEALING DIET
YOUR
BODY IS LIKE A CAR
Think of the body like a car. After all, it IS a vehicle. Your car needs
maintenance such as oil changes, flushing of the fuel injectors and fluids
replaced. Your body, in order to maintain and heal itself, also needs the
right care.
A car needs good fuel. Good foods are like good fuel to the body,
providing it with the energy it needs to repair and maintain.
A car also has an electrical system. According to healer Dr.Sebi, your
body needs foods that are charged with electrical currents. These are generally
raw or unprocessed foods. Your car has a battery. The human body is also
like a battery which needs to be recharged often. (Sleep is a time when we
naturally put our body 'on the charger'). However, if the body does not
have the minerals necessary for our body to recharge, (the current), then sleep or exercise
may not help--we simply don't have the power.
Research has proven
that the diet will affect not just the physical health, but mental health
as well. For example, eating too much white (processed) sugar is a strong factor
causing 'The Blues' or depression.
What we call a Healing Diet is simply eating foods that will naturally help the
body heal, stay elastic and strong. The effects of these foods spill over
into our emotional life, helping us feel better, more relaxed and at peace.
This in turn, will sharpen our senses and allow us to sense how other people in
our life may be influencing our health for the better or worse.
Essential Components of the Healing Diet
1) ALKALINE DIET
2) Seaweed, a Super Food at
least 3 times a week
3) Herbal Supplements
4) Fresh water
ALL 4 of these components must
be used to promote natural healing in the body and youthful vitality.
COMPONENTS OF THE HEALING
DIET
1) ALKALINE DIET
Again, the body is like a car and food is like fuel. Everything we eat is
metabolized or 'burned' within the body and leaves a residue. Nutritionists have
now recognized that there are basically only 2 types of foods. These work
to balance the pH levels in the body. These are
classified as to how the body reacts to them. Different foods produce either
an alkaline (healing our cells) or acid (breaking cells down) reaction.
For example, eating white (processed) sugar causes the body to leave an acid
ash. This is very damaging to our cells and causes them to break down, leading
to disease. Eating vegetables causes the body to leave an alkaline ash which in
turn promotes healing.
Here is a partial list of Acid-forming (harmful) and Alkaline-forming (helpful)
foods.

Most all vegetables, especially raw vegetables,
balance the acidity and alkali levels in the blood.
Although it might seem that citrus fruits would have an acidifying
effect on the body, the citric acid they contain actually has an
alkalinizing effect in the system.

The key is to eat about 75% alkaline foods or more each day. This ensures
the body has enough power, energy and nutrients to heal itself naturally.
By eating this way, it is hard to get sick! Your body has everything it
needs to continually repair itself as you sleep and throughout the day.
Why are some fruits and vegetables acid-forming? It
is because they are man-made. The carrot, bananas found in America (not the
small varieties), and beets are hybrids and would not exist except for human
experimentation. They are off-balance in composition and have way too much
sugars. This also applies to plants grown with hormones and other unnatural
methods make them 'more sweet' or 'taste better'.
New / Old Grains
Whole food grains such as quinoa, spelt and kamut are becoming more popular.
But these grains have been around for centuries! Quinoa is very high in
calcium and also known to be a Whole Food. This means, it has all the
nutrients necessary for health and can be eaten alone as an entire meal. It is
also delicious and can be cooked with a wide variety of seasonings. These grains
can be used to make breads, cakes, etc. Unlike wheat, they are alkaline and very
good for the body.
Sugars
We all like something sweet at times. What are the best natural sugars?
You may be surprised to find honey is not that great...at least the honey found
in North America. Why? The bees are hybrid. This makes the honey
off-balance in chemical composition and too sugary. Natural bees make
honey that is very dark in color and not as sweet as the typical honey in the
stores, even raw honey. It is like a salve and can be applied directly to the
skin where it will sink in and promote healing.
We recommend maple syrup---the more unrefined, the better. We also recommend
Stevia, a natural sweetener and Agave Juice which is very delicious and also
very sweet. It is from a cactus and strongly resembles honey in color and
consistency.
We do not advocate that honey is bad for the health, only that it is too sweet
and should be used in moderation. And of course, raw honey is better.
Brown sugar can also be used in moderation. Make sure it is real, raw or
turbinado as some so-called 'brown' sugars are simply white sugar mixed with
molasses.
SWITCHING TO A PLANT-BASED DIET
Most meats and high-protein foods are acid-causing.
This is why nutritionists are overhauling the American diet. The
low-carb era is just a tangent of an alkaline diet. High-carb foods are
converted to sugar (acids) which make the body feel sluggish, slow and
off-balance. A good low-carb diet tends to be high in vegetables and low in meats and
starches such as potatoes, pasta, rice and cereals.
The saying, "You are what you eat,"
holds true in a literal sense. Diets high in meat (not including fish) have been
linked to various conditions such as colon cancer, Alzheimer's Disease and
obesity. Women with uterine fibroids have healed by switching to a
plant-based diet. Hormones added to meat and some vegetables may wreak havoc in
the body's emotional system, and may explain some of the bizarre behavior
expressed in society today. Toxins and chemicals in fertilizers damage our
internal organs and threaten our body's ability to maintain a state of good
health.
For those wanting to be
slim, energetic and flexible, a plant-based diet can transform your whole life!
A secret to staying thin is not in how much you eat but in what you eat. For example, by cooking delicious dishes that are low in saturated
fats and cholesterol, you can eat a lot without gaining as much weight, if
any at all. Vegetables and grains contain a lot more fiber which speeds
up the metabolism as well as decreases the likelihood of certain diseases
such as colon cancer.
It is not difficult
to switch to a plant-based or vegetarian diet, but it is a good idea to start slowly. Start by dropping all pork products
completely from your diet. Then, drop beef. Replace these two meats with
poultry (chicken and turkey) and fish. Later, you can drop the poultry
and maybe the fish. Many people who feel they fit under the 'vegetarian
category' eat fish, although some do not eat seafood. This is a matter
of personal choice.
In addition,
insist on purer foods such as:
Organic fruits and vegetables, no dairy products, no cheese
products (cheese contains enzymes from a cow), no hydrogenated oils, no
unbleached or processed flours, whole wheat or whole grain bread and raw
or real brown sugar (not white sugar with molasses) or raw honey.
The bestseller, Eight Weeks to Optimum Health (by Dr. Andrew
Weil), contains lots of suggestions on using diet to improve your health.
A plant-based diet does
not have to be expensive, tasteless or boring. Healthy dishes can be extremely delicious and satisfying.
RAW FOODS
A raw food diet provides a high if not the highest level
of nutrition. These eating patterns were established from the beginning
of humanity, before we began to cook our food. Everything in nature
can be eaten raw. Organic foods, (those grown without fertilizer or
pesticides) are always best.
TIPS ON
MAINTAINING AN ALKALINE DIET
1) Eat at least one fruit daily
The benefits of fruit are obvious. Fruits help the skin stay elastic and
smooth. They cleanse the digestive system and give the body fiber to keep
the elimination process smooth. Fresh fruits such as apples are
inexpensive and easy to carry with you when you are going to eat away from home.
2) Eat green leafy vegetables at
least 3 times each week
Our bodies are linked closely with nature. Our blood, like plants, is
actually green--it is only exposure to air that turns it bright red. That
is just one explanation of why greens are so essential to good health. Our
bodies crave the nutrients from dark green vegetables such as: broccoli,
spinach, turnip greens, mustard greens, collard greens, collaloo, chard, bok choy and others. We must incorporate these into our diet at LEAST 3 times a
week.
2) SEAWEED, A SUPER FOOD
Our bodies were made from the exact same ingredients as the earth. The
same minerals in the earth and the sea are found within our bodies. This
is why seaweed is such a Super Food for the human body. Cultures which
incorporate a lot of seaweed in the diet live longer than people from western
cultures which eat a more meat-based diet. They are also able to enjoy
their lives better, without diseases such as heart disease and cancer looming
around the corner. According to Wikipedia the encyclopedia,
"Costa Rica and Guadeloupe have
higher life expectancy than the United States" according to UN figures of 2002.
We HIGHLY
recommend some form of seaweeds in the diet on a regular basis--this
means at least 3 times each week. Seaweed (or algae) is also extremely
economical. There is a food we call The Superfood that is in this family. It contains virtually all the known minerals and can jump-start your body with a burst of energy! Many people are lacking necessary minerals due to dietary choices. This means that most people's bodies will deteriorate gradually without ever truly regenerating as the body has the power to do. In ancient times people lived much longer and more fulfilling lives. You can too. more info.
3) HERBAL SUPPLEMENTS
Herbs grown naturally in the wild are highly electrical and therefore aid the
body in healing or "recharging." Herbs contain minerals, not 'vitamins'
which have little or no real effect on the body. There are no vitamins found naturally in the body! But the body is
essentially composed of minerals such as calcium and iron. These same
minerals are found in the sky, earth, rocks, sea and so forth. Ashes to
ashes and dust to dust, so adequately describes the fact that our bodies are
composed of the exact same elements found in the earth itself. What
does this mean? This means that minerals, not vitamins are essential to promoting good health. The health
industry is overfocused on vitamins, which are often very expensive, when
minerals are the real elements we need.
Which type of herbs work best?
Those grown naturally, without chemicals, fertilizers, or irradiation.
There are a few really good products on the market, however some are very
expensive. Universal Temple of Healing has researched this area thoroughly
and found a company that naturally grows herbs in the Amazon at very reasonable
prices. We also travel to Jamaica to pick fresh roots and herbs for our
own herbal tonics and healing teas. Call us at (404) 932-3297 for more
information.
Do Supplements need to be taken forever?
Again, a good diet will help the body get all the right nutrients it needs.
Supplements are only to fill in the gaps where food leaves off. If your
diet is healthy, herbal supplements do not have to be taken daily.
They may be taken a few times each week at most. I personally find myself
taking them maybe twice each week, more if I have eaten not-so-good that week.
(Siona Devi)
How should Supplements be taken ?
This will depend upon what supplements you are taking, what kind of diet you are
eating, and the state of your overall health. It is not a good idea to
take them continually for more than 3 weeks. There is no danger of
overdosing, it is just that they will eventually become less effective.
For those taking supplements due to an illness, we recommend taking them for 6
days straight and skipping the 7. This typically should be done for 3
consecutive weeks.
4) FRESH WATER
Clean Water
Although the earth
is covered with 2/3 water, much of our water is damaged by chemicals and
poisons. The world is overpopulated and water is often scarce or tainted.
The purchasing of a water filter is not an option anymore, it is mandatory.
When possible, water filters should even be placed in the shower to filter
it as well.
Good water is mandatory for optimum health. Our bodies are mainly composed
of this substance and we must keep replenishing it. If our water has
harmful chemicals, they can affect the organs, especially the liver. There
are many good filters on the market. Compare them and find one which suits your
needs.
Mountain Spring Water
Even better than filtered water is Mountain Spring Water or Spring Water.
These are preferred because they have high electrical currents and really help
to flush the body of poisons and waste. It should come from a clean, natural
source.
Water should be drunk liberally through out the day. To maintain good
health, replace sodas, and juices (unless fresh-squeezed) with water and watch
as your body respond positively.

FRESH AIR AND EXERCISE
Fresh Air
There is no need to
talk about the benefits of fresh air and sunshine. Nature is a potent
healing force. When we expose our bodies to the elements, they respond
accordingly. The earth harmonizes and balances our energies.
'Getting outdoors,' can be as simple as sitting on a porch. But the
benefits are too numerous to name.
When indoors, open the
windows. Buy fans instead of using the air condition. Replace
those screens in the windows and doors so you can leave them open without
the bugs entering. If it is very cold, open them for 10 minutes and allow
the room to be revitalized by the cold, fresh air.
Get air conditioning
ducts cleaned regularly. They can harbor dust mites, molds and other
things that can cause lots of allergic reactions that may go unexplained
for years.
Exercise
Any type of exercise
is good. The body needs periodic periods of working the muscles.
Whether the exercise is passive, (Yoga, Tai Chi) or active, (walking,
aerobics), regular practice has profound affects on the body and overall
health.
LIVING A BALANCED LIFESTYLE
In these hectic days, many feel it difficult to maintain a life that is balanced
between work, family and personal interests.
Time management is an
extremely important part of maintaining a balanced life. Do you find
you just don't have enough time?
Take a day or two to
analyze your habits. Do you spend too much time on the phone discussing
things that don't really uplift or make a difference in your life?
How much television do you watch? Are the programs you watch really necessary? Do you find you spend way too much time doing paperwork
(bills, etc.) or household chores? Enlist help or do some of
it and leave the rest for another day. Don't try to do everything in
one day unless you really have the time.
Also, do you get enough sleep and rest? Make sure you are sleeping to the
point you wake up refreshed and energized.
Moms or Dads, find someone to watch
the kids for an hour so you can take a walk or simply just sit outside by
yourself for a few minutes. This is not being selfish, this is being
self-loving. You cannot continue to give to your children unless you
replenish yourself first.
How much time do you
spend with yourself, completely alone? Do you do things that nourish
your spirit during these times? Following are some ways to spiritually
enrich your life during your quiet times:
- Prayer
- Meditation
- Painting/Drawing/Coloring
- Singing
- Walking
- Dancing
- Self-massage
- A warm bath
- Aromatherapy
- Listening to music
The list goes on indefinitely.
Find what works for you and do it! This is spiritual medicine.
