On taking spiritual self-inventory:
“Taking spiritual self-inventory allows us to take stock of where we stand in our spiritual establishment. Do we need to clear out all the unnecessary clutter on our spiritual shelves? We may need to post a “closed for inventory” sign while we take stock of where we stand in our thoughts and emotions. This may mean going in seclusion for a while, such as retreating to a quiet, peaceful environment where we can listen to our thoughts without intrusion. We may need to do a cleansing fast in order to clarify our thinking. The objective of this exercise is to get to the bottom of our belief system, to examine our thoughts and emotions with honesty, to identify the emotional baggage that is weighing us down. There are five important questions you’ll want to ask yourself when taking spiritual self-inventory.
- What is holding me back from creating the life I want?
- How does my thought pattern affect my creations?
- What in my life no longer serves me as it once did—a job, a relationship, a lifestyle, what?
- Am I honest and sincere with myself and with others? Am I honest about my life, my relationships and my emotions?
